The Trapped Valentine

The petals fell the way they do
As I sat awaiting you

withering away with the sands of time
Trapped in isolation, and trapped in rhyme 

Chocolates melting like hearts once did
Shadows engulfing where love once hid 

Wine for two became wine for one
As my soul died with the falling sun

I the rejected Valentine
forever trapped within the rhyme.
